The Lonely Island club has teamed up with Judd Apatow to bring us a feature length film of the one and only spoof music group. The line up consists of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer.
Not much else is known about the film, there is no release date yet. Universal Studios has green light a script and will serve as the executive producers. Judd Apatow will produce as previously mentioned, and Taccone and Schaffer will Co-Direct the film.
The Lonley Island wouldn't be the first time a SNL segment got it's own feature length film. Wayne's World being the prime example. I suspect a slew of new comical sons as the film is focused on spoofing the music industry. Which, let's be honest needs some making fun of.
I expect the sound track to sell millions and a tour to follow since these guys are determined to turn The Lonely Island into a real cash cow. Should we be excited about this? Maybe. If it's a genuinely funny movie, then I'm down for it. Hopefully it points out how archaic the RIAA is and how the music industry is basically a generation clash at the moment.
