The sequel to the successful Hunger Games, blew up the box office this weekend, earning a whopping 161 million domestically. In three days the film managed to earn back it's 130 million budget. Between domestic and over seas earnings the film is sitting at 307 million, putting the film at blockbuster stats. The film couldn't best Iron Man 3's opening, instead placing it at the second strongest opening this year domestically, which is impressive for a non-summer movie.
The film came in at number one, dethroning 2 week king Thor: The Dark World. The Best Man Holiday, comes at number three, while Vince Vaughn's Delivery Man opened at 4th with an abysmal 8 million. The movie has come with positive critical reception and audience reception and proves that The Hunger Games movie franchise is strong and will continue to dominate as the final two movies hit the screens in 2014 and 2015
