Movie News: Goosebumps Movie Release Date,Synopsis + Cast

While it's announcement was a couple years back, Finally there's some concrete information on the film adaption of the popular 90's books written by R.L Stein. As the film begins principal photography, Sony has unveiled some information regarding the upcoming series reboot such as casting and a official synopsis.

The synopsis reads " After moving into a small town, Zach Cooper  meets Hannah , his neighbor. Hannah's father R. L. Stine , who writes the Goosebumps stories, keeps all the monsters in the series locked up in his books. When Zach unintentionally releases the monsters from the books, Zach, Hannah, and Stine team up in order to put the monsters back where they came from. "

Jack Black(You should know who he is)  takes on the leading role as R.L Stein. The role of Zach Cooper will be filled by Dylan Minnette(Let Me In, Prisoners) and Hannah will be portrayed by Odeya Rush a relative new comer to the movie scene. The cast will be rounded out by Amy Ryan(The Wire,Escape Plan) and Ken Marino(Children's Hospital, We're The Miller's) as Coach Carr(Of course there is a coach).

The film is directed by Rob Letterman(Gulliver's Travels,Shark Tales) , produced by Deborah Forte(Original creator of the Goosebumps TV series) and Neal H. Moritz(Evan Almighty,S.W.A.T) as well as written by Mike White (Enlighten, School Of Rock).

The film is scheduled for a March 23rd 2016 release.

While the film has a winning combination in terms of box office success will it actually be good? I'm doubtful, though I do have hopes. I enjoyed the TV series when it was on as a kid, Though I barley remember much about it. A fresh take might be good for this franchise that's been pretty hibernating the past decade. Frankly, I think this movie would have been better served as a Holloween type movie around October. Even if there is a new entry in one of the longer running slasher franchises from the 80's such as Halloween or Friday The 13th, Goosebumps is a more family oriented affair, and it would most likely stack up against those films. But then again it's not my choice. Hopefully it'll be decent. I'll post the trailer when ever it comes out.
