Plans For Week 12

Well January has come and gone incredibly quickly. January was pretty slow and my class was very demanding. Hopefully February will be a different story. Well it will be for you the readers, as on Wednesday February 12th I'll be making a big announcement. I'm still trying to figure out how to write it. But that's still two weeks away, so here's the break down for next week, the first week in February.

Video Blog: January 31st 2014

Hey everyone, here is my latest video blog for the month of January. All my video blogs from now on will come out every last Friday of every month. The next video blog will be released on February 28th.

In this video blog I discuss the Microsoft scandal and Jess Eisenberg as Lex Luther briefly. The main focous of this video is to explain exactly my thought process behind my posts and why I can often times be very quiet on some days in terms of activity. This video is not edited nor is it high quality. Hopefully you all will enjoy the video!

Movie News:Jesse Eisenberg Is Lex Luthor

No. No. No. No. No.No.No.No.No..No........NO

Jessie Esinberg has been confirmed as Lex Luther for the upcoming Super Man Vs Batman film. WHAT.

Now for awhile Lex Luthor was assumed to be the next villain in the follow up to Man Of Steel since it was announced. Casting rumors included Bryan Cranston(Which was my top choice) and Joaquin Phoenix. Even Denzel Washington was name dropped.

Fans were shocked when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, replacing Christian Bale. Which, personally I don't feel is an awful casting choice. Gal Gadot got some flack for being casted, which again i can live with as long as she bulks up and has the right outfit.

But JESSIE FREAKING EISNBERG!?!?! Now don't get me wrong, I think he's a great actor and he happens to be great a playing douchbags and socially awkward individuals. I just think he's not great for the part. Of course I could be wrong and he could be totally great in the role, but I can't wrap my head around that.

Here is the official statement from director Zach Snyder "Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

Other and less bizarre casting news is Jeremy Irons playing Alfred. Although it's much different from the Micheal Cane Alfred. He could be the Alfred closer to the comic books. Maybe even more outspoken then the comic book Alfred.

The director had this to say about that particular casting choice "As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

Now it's time for optimism. Maybe the change in direction with these iconic characters isn't a bad thing. It could be great that they try to distance themselves from other batman and superman movies that have been out. Jessie Esinberg could even blow away all the other editions of Lex Luther with his performance. That's what I hope is going to happen. My preferred outcome for this movie.

Video Of The Week: 1/31/14

This week's Video Of The Week goes to once again TotalBiscuit. Like I said, he's my hero and I'm going to continue to promote him whenever I can. Anyway, If you've been keeping up with my blog then you know about the whole Microsoft/Machinima drama. That is the subject of this video. Well more of his take on the scandal from the point of view of someone who has taking paid endorsements. There's no ranting and talking about how much Microsoft sucks, so if that's what you're looking for then this video isn't for you.

I think the way he presents his point in this video is clear and concise. It's not shock jock, and it's not hate filled. It presents the facts in a clear cut way so there isn't any confusion. So that is why I recommend this video because it will help you make your own informed opinion on the subject.

Movie News: Universal Announces New Release Dates

Universal has announced some new release dates for it's upcoming movie projects. Ranging from this year to 2016, Yes universal has decided to load up 2015 with additional movies, which is already crowded with big movies.

The thriller As Above, So Below will be hitting theaters August 15th 2014. The movie is directed by John Erick Dowdle. It's written by both John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle. A cast has not been announced yet, however the plot focuses on two archaeologists in search of a lost treasure in the catacombs below Paris. Not really a lot of information about this film to decided whether or not I'm excited to see this or not. But, a film set in Paris could be a really nice change in location, away from L.A, New York and London.

The drama A Walk Among Tombstones will hit theaters September 19th 2014. The Liam Neeson starring vehicle is based of the novel of the same name. The movie is directed and written by Scott Frank and follows Mr.Neeson as a former NYPD officer and private investigator who is hired by a drug dealer to find his missing wife. I like Liam Neeson but he hasn't been making to many films that are interesting or exciting. They also haven't got the critical reception one would hope for. Hopefully this movie can set him back on the right track.

the horror film Ouija will hit theaters October 24th 2014. The film is based on the famous board. Not to much else is known about the film as of now, but those of you who are love horror movies this film may just get you excited.

The historical drama Everest will be hitting theaters February 27th. It's rumored that Benedict Cumberbatch will star in the film, which if that's the case I will definitely see it. However, the movie follows the historical figure George Mallory in 1920 as he makes many attempts to scale Mount Everest the tallest peak in our entire world. Which is a very dangerous trek obviously.

Pitch Perfect 2 will hit theaters on May 15th 2015. The film will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, who replaces Jason Moore. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will both be back in the sequel

Crimson Peak will be out October 16th 2015. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro, the mastermind behind Pacific Rim. Guillermo has stated that this film will mark a return in style to his previous Spanish horror films such as The Devil’s Backbone and the dark fantasy Pan's Labyrinth which both received high acclaim from critics. the official plot is as follows " In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers." The film will feature a strong cast starring Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam

The Untitled Pets Projects has very little information on it, but is slated for February 12th 2016.

Out of the movies that were announced, the most I'm excited for is Crimson Peak. I love Del Toro's work, I think he deserves more attention then he is getting. He's got a brilliant mind and I'd like to see him return to some of his weirder and darker stuff that he has been known for.
