It's been announced today that the DLC Second Assault, which was originally a time exclusive for the Xbox One, will be available for digital download across all platforms. This was confirmed by EA's Battlefield blog.
The DLC, according to EA features "four fan-favorite maps from Battlefield 3... re-imagined with Frostbite 3 graphics and Battlefield 4 gameplay"
The new content will be available to premium members on February 18th, while non-subscribers will have to wait till March 14th
The company went onto say "Battlefield 4 veterans will recognize the surroundings, but also notice various changes – big and small – in map layout," and added "In Operation Metro the ceilings now can be destroyed by the players. It’s also possible to bring down the communications tower of the new Caspian Border and create flammable hazards on Operation Firestorm. And Gulf of Oman’s sand storm will make your battles even more challenging."
EA and DICE the developer of Battlefield 4 has come under fire for the game's servers being fundamentally broken for months, even leading to an investigation as to whether or not the company mislead it's share holders with the release of this product. Things are stable now however, and the controversy seems to have died down in the past couple of months.
This, if anything, is their way of ass-kissing to the fans of the series following such a strong backlash.
