Movie News: LEGO The Movie Gets Sequel For 2017

Warner Bros. has confirmed today that a sequel to the monster hit LEGO the Movie will be coming to a theater near you on May 26th 2017. Not wasting any time getting the sequel down the pipeline. People love this movie, and they are already calling out for a follow up. Of course one would assume Chris Pratt would return in the sequel, I think that is a pretty safe bet, along with rest of the voice cast.

So far there isn't any details about plot, or official casting news. No word on who would take directing duty. The one thing we do know is the script is being penned by Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan. Stern is known for his work on both Bolt and Wreck-it Ralph.

LEGO the Movie 2 isn't the only big animated family sequel coming that year, with Despicable Me 3 heading to theaters that year. It seems that a LEGO sequel is a good bet for the studios, with sequels usually earning more then it's predecessor, however, hopefully the film will keep that same level of quality as the original for it to be a worthy successor
