Hype and new for this upcoming reboot of the Hitman movie franchise has been pretty scarce. With all the hype surrounding the bigger action blockbusters coming this year and next, I'm sure most people don't even know that there is a reboot in the works.
Well finally we got some news, by way of Zachary Quinto. The actor will have a starring role in the upcoming film. The film was supposed to start filming last month, but due to the tragic death of Paul Walker, production was delayed. Since then the role of agent 47 has gone on to Homeland star Rupert Friend.
You may reconize Mr.Quinto for his work on the hit FX show American Horror Story or even more so for his Hollywood role as Spock in Star Trek(2009) and Star Trek: Into Darkness(2013).
I feel he would make a suitable villian for the film. He's had history playing a antagonist on the show Heroes. A good one at that. However, he could be an adequate boss or sidekick if he is looking to play a different kind of role from an unlikable individual and have a place in future films should it become a big franchise. Right now there are no details about what his role could be.
The 2007 Hitman received poor reception from critics and fans alike. So it's very reasonable to be suspicious of this film. Timothy Olyphant was a awkward choice for the role, and he later stated that he was not interested in a sequel and only took on the role to pay for his home after deadwood had been canceled.
The film's script has been written by Micheal Finch the same writer behind the film Predators which was generally well received, and it was also written by Skip Woods, the brains behind A Good Day To Die Hard which received and X-Men Origins: Wolverine both films being considered to be the worst out of their respective franchises.
