While the shortage of PS4's is not news to anyone, especially those who are still looking for this machine on the interwebs. The rumor circulating is that Sony artificially created a console shortage, One would assume this means that Sony would create a image that there is such a high demand and that it was outpacing the Xbox One, thus boosting their stocks and making shareholders happy..Which I think is illegal..but don't take my word for it.
Of course this rumor is just the product of the fan wars between Xbox, PlaySation and Nintendo. Gamers going out of their way to devalue the success of all machines, by any means necessary and this happens on all sides.
Jack Trenton appeared on the PlaySation Blogcast to officially and debunked these rumors, saying "You have competition out there, There are lots of things that people can spend money on, especially during the holidays; and the holidays only come around once a year, so that’s really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity...It breaks my heart if somebody's got $400 in their hand and they want one and we can't sell them one"
It took Sony months to build up the first million units shipped and sold. When they gave 12,000 extra PS4 consoles to Amazon it sold out in 27 minutes. You can expect to see more consoles in stores after the holidays are over. Untill then, you're stuck with re-sells and used units.
