Movie News: Bourne 5 Release Date Set

Today, Universal confirmed the release date for the 5th entry in the long running Bourne, film series. The film will hit theaters on August 14th 2015. Settling in at an already crowded and sequel heavy summer, for 2015. The film will be a direct sequel too The Bourne Legacy, and will see Jeremy Renner reprise his role as Aaron Cross.

No word on whether or not Rachel Weisz will reprise her role as Dr.Marta Shearing. Legacy helmer Tony Gilroy will not return, instead being replaced by director Justin Lin. Tony Gilroy notably wrote all four Bourne and this would be the first time he would not work on the films in any capacity.

The fourth entry did not fair as well as the Matt Damon lead trilogy. Earning 276 million on a 125 million Dollar budget, Though it managed to surpass the original film, which earned 214 million, though it's budget was cheaper, at 60 million.  The sequel Supremacy, earned 288 million, and Ultimatum which earned over 442 million. Still the sequel isn't that far off from previous entries. Although, placing it in the summer line-up for 2015 might limit it's overall gross.

I saw the fourth one in theaters and actually quite liked it, I like Renner, I think he's a great action hero. I personally think it'd be cool if they do another sequel after this dedicated to Aaron cross and then wrap up the franchise with a seventh film starring both Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner, as Bourne and Cross receptively, teaming up to brings down the baddies, once and for all. That's what I would do if I was in charge anyways.
