MCV reported that the PS4 sold 250,000 units in it's first 48 hours in the UK. To put that into perspective, this means that it is the fastest selling console in UK history. Sony beats it's own record, after PSP originally held that tittle, selling 185,00 when it launched in 2005. The PS4 surpassed Xbox One sales, which came out November 22nd. Xbox One sold 150,000 units in it's first 48 hours. It also beat out the PS3 which sold 165,000 units.
At this point both consoles have their appeal, and both have enough wrong that I am putting off getting them till the beginning of the year. It seems at this point, PS4 is out selling the Xbox One in most of it's territories. PS4 hasn't eve hit Japan yet, and that could easily rake in double what it sold in the UK. If Microsoft would have had a good handle on their marketing straight out the gate, then this could be going differently or at least it would be a tighter race. We'll see how it pans out after the holidays.
