TV News: Showtime's Californication Final Season

Showtime has announced that it's long running comedy series staring David Duchovny will end it's run at the conclusion of it's 7th season. Only 12 more episodes remain for the series, with the show returning in April.

Showtime's president of entertainment had this to say about the series and it's end "With its unique blend of lyricism and excess, Californication has been one of our groundbreaking signature series. We will always be indebted to Tom Kapinos for leading the creative charge on this memorable comedy, and to David Duchovny for making us root for an unapologetic hedonist like Hank Moody. Tom has carefully planned the final chapter of Hank’s journey and has brought it to a beautiful and satisfying conclusion for new and long-time fans alike"

Over it's run Californication has remained one of Showtime's most criticaly adored series. With two emmy wins, 5 nominations, 1 golden globe win and 6 nominations, not to mention it's screen actor's guild award nomination. The show hit a ratings high with it's 6th season earning over 2.9 million viewers. This upcoming season will sport many guest stars and will hopefully provide a satisfying conclusion.

Seven seasons is nothing to scoff at, since most shows don't even make it past it's first. Still I know it's heartbreaking for fans to have to let the show go, but at least it will end on it's high point. The show's creator most likely has a distinct visions for the end of the show, and it's nice he will be able to see that come to life.
