The Weinstein Company is currently making plans to adapt tv series out of two of there most beloved movies. Scream and Good Will Hunting. While this may be concerning to fans of these films, It may well be very rewarding to fans, considering we are in the golden age of TV programming. So what can you expect out of these TV shows? Well lets get into the information that has been revealed so far about the projects.
Scream The TV Show:
Now the Scream TV series, has been discussed for quite sometime. The show will hit MTV in the summer of 2014. With writers Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin, who worked on Criminal Minds, writing the Pilot. There was also talks of Wes Craven directing it. Not a whole lot of other information has come out. However, rumors have been circulating of ghost-face beings an actual ghost in the series. Harvey Weinstein and We Craven has expressed there interest in making a fifth and final installment of the long running series. Ending the film franchise. I'm sure we will hear more information as we get closer to summer 2014.
Good Will Hunting The TV Show:
This one has even less information about it. This seems to be coming out of a rather lucrative deal struck with Miramax to start bringing back old franchises. We could see more TV shows coming out of the deal then just this, But this is the first confirmed so far. Obviously, Im going to be speculating, But this series could fit nicely with ABC if they choose a more mainstream, family oriented approach. However, if they want to make a serious adult drama, then I'd love too see it AMC, HBO, or Showtime. Heck even Netflix, which could be easier to pair the two stars from the movie for a shorter run, and shorter amount of episodes produced. Still, I think this will be a little further off, and there still is a lot of planning to be done.
Like I said earlier we do seem to be in sort of a Golden Age of TV programming, as there is a huge demand for high quality content and well written shows and there are shows out there that do just that. I consider this to be the backlash from all the reality shows that exist these days. I expect to see more shows from Weinstein..Dead Poets Society could be a good one. Hopefully we get yeas worth of quality serial content from this deal.
