In a deal made with Nordic Games, Double Fine has regained it's control over Stacking and Costume Quest. The game studio has struck a deal with publisher Nordic Games to see not only Costume Quest and Staking receive a physical release but also Psychonauts. The games will hit shelves within the first six months of 2014
Here is what Double Fine boss and leader Tim Schafer had to say " I am pleased that we have regained full control over Costume Quest and Stacking, following a daring and top-secret midnight raid on the Nordic Games headquarters in Vienna
Lars Wingefors,Nordic's CEO also commented on the partnership " We can't wait to partner with Double Fine for this upcoming retail launch of three of its most excellent games. However, I feel compelled to point out that we were happy to transfer distribution rights for Costume Quest and Stacking back to Double Fine in an entirely non-secretive and heist-free manner."
Nordic acquired the rights to these titles with the auction of THQ's assets after they went bust last year. It's nice to see Nordic, doing something with these properties, instead of just sitting on it. It was sad to see THQ go, but a lot of their properties are still surviving and will continue to survive in capable hands. Oh and I'd like to add, can we have a reboot of Destroy All Humans, that game was awesome, it was fun hoping in a UFO and destroying buildings, wreaking havoc. The series took a huge down turn in quality, but i hope it can return and be mind blowing.
