Twitch has begun to shut down live streams mainly on the PS4 that are not game related. Twitch will continue to moderate the platform, and the Xbox One when the Twitch app launches on that console. For those of you who don't know Twitch has carved it's self to be the premier spot to view video game live streams and other gaming related content. The site has a strict rule about only having game related content.
Again, I don't like the idea of censorship, but twitch has made a nice little niche right now to be gaming focused streaming website. Strategy wise, it's much easier to grow a loyal following if you take a niche and hold on to it. Having a variety site is much harder to sell to people and advertisers. Twitch is securing it's future by doing this. One day it might branch out if it becomes big enough. It's important that Twitch keeps curating their content, because if YouTube goes bust, it could potentially become a viable place for current YouTubers to move too. I think that in itself makes the website valuable and important
