As studios try to claim the best date for their big releases, there seems to be a higher volume of delays and release date changes in recent memory. With Disney's two big tentpoles Star Wars Episode 7 and Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales being moved out of the summer running to allow for more breathing room. Yesterday we got some pretty big announcements, with the Release Date for Assassins Creed and Fantastic Four reboot both vying for the summer slot. Now two big movies are officially delayed a full year.
The Fifty Shades adaption has been delayed from it's original august 2014 release date till February 13th 2015. It was originally going to open against Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy but after it's male lead Charlie Hunnam dropped out and Fifty Shades went through extensive rewrites, it seems a delay is necessary as Universal is hoping for a huge hit with this film. Charlie Hunnam was replaced by Jamie Dornan(Once Upon A Time,Marie Antoinette) as Christian Grey, while Anastasia will be played by Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street,The Five Year Engagement)
