This is one of the many reasons why I hate having to rely on other news sites for my information. Yes, I'm breaking the fourth wall and explaining to you how I operate. Before I posted, I checked three different "sources" before posting, and they all reported the same thing, It's A Wonderful Life will be getting a sequel in 2015. Well last night news broke, that rumors of the sequel were false. This is a perfect example of these entertainment sites running with any and all rumors to get add clicks. This isn't exactly a good practice.
It turns out the the "writers" of the sequel Martha Bolton and Bob Farnworth do not own the rights to make the film, nor have they even made the appropriate steps to secure the rights. Paramount wold do everything in their power to stop the film from happening as they own the rights, and do not intend to make a sequel
Paramount Pictures commented on the rumors, and debunked them, this is what they had to say " No project relating to It's A Wonderful Life can proceed without a license from Paramount, To date, these individuals have not obtained any of the necessary rights, and we would take all appropriate steps to protect those rights"
Well fans of this classic maybe able to rest easy now, knowing that the magic of the original will exists untarnished for quite some time...unless they do secure rights or Paramount eventually decides to make a sequel. For now though, it doesn't seem like the movie is moving forward at all.
