The PS4 has had an incredibly successful launch. On it's first day in the U.S alone, the console managed to sell 1 million units. While this may not sound so shocking, most consoles don't hit the million mark for one country and don;t reach that until it's first week. The console it's self came out last week on Friday November 15th, and the U.S was the only country to receive this machine. Europe,Australia and Brazil will be getting their PS4's November 29th and it's home country Japan won't be getting it until February and the rest of the world won't get it until sometime in December, this was a deliberate move by Sony, to make sure supply would meet demand.
The PS4 is on track to becoming one of the most successful console launches in history. Though, i can guarantee that Xbox One will earn more in it's launch day due to it being released in most of it's countries the same day. If anything this indicates that console gaming is not falling, as this could prove to be one of the most successful next generation console launches ever. Both PS4 and Xbox One smashed Pre-order records.
I did some rough calculating and i determined that the PS4 earned 399,000,000 in it's first day. Though i have a feeling that these consoles will have reached it's peak in terms of sales on launch, it's still exciting note that console gaming is more popular then ever. Even with the rise of social gaming.
It's a super exciting time to be a gamer. I have huge hopes for this gen and my imagination is already running wild, and i haven't even played any of the new consoles. I tell you what though, I'm super excited about E3 this year, i expect some pretty exciting reveals
